Skiers will feast on a smorgasbord of newly opened slopes for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Monarch Mountain, Crested Butte and Steamboat will open runs on Wednesday. Thursday is the season opening for Aspen Mountain, Snowmass and Telluride, and Friday marks the opening for Purgatory at Durango Mountain, according to Colorado Ski Country USA.

Snowstorms and snowmaking machines helped a number of ski hills get out of the gate earlier, including Keystone, Eldora, Copper Mountain, Winter Park and Wolf Creek.

Loveland Ski Area was the first North American ski resort open this year when runs opened there on Oct. 7 with an 18-inch base. Arapahoe Basin had its earliest opening ever on Oct. 9, according to Ski Country USA, the association of the state’s 22 commercial ski resorts.

Echo Mountain opens Dec. 2. Sunlight opens Dec. 4. Silverton opens Dec 5. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk open Dec. 12, and Powderhorn opens Dec. 17.
